Grandparent Work Day

Saturday was a total blessing to us. I've got a list about a mile long of stuff that needs to be done on the house [see the link under pages if you want to help :-) ], and a list equally long of stuff we need to do to get ready for the baby in July. This weekend, the grandparents-to-be came in and got the ball rolling by helping us knock out the top items on both lists.
Greg worked on getting a new attic ladder installed to replace the 2' by 1' opening we had before. He got it put in and working, added trim to the outside, and tacked down some plywood onto the rafters so we have storage space.

Awesome. Soon, the junk in the background will be up there.
Mom assisted with the ladder and plywood installation, and also tended to some of the plants in our back yard. She pulled up some dead rose bushes and assessed the state of our garden and trees, which I'm sure will generate future projects.
Mary and Jim got to work painting the baby's room. I think the colors turned out pretty good, although we haven't spent much time in there (waiting for fumes to air out). I'll wait and post pictures once we've got it a little more finished up.
I was part go-fer, part helper, and part decision-maker. I helped with masking off the nursery, picking out paint colors, measuring and cutting plywood, fetching tools, and cleaning paint brushes and rollers.
Marci...
well...
uh...
Marci gestated.
I'm kidding. While Marci did have a little down time not able to help with painting or attic stuff, she did start the day off masking the nursery and worked on replacing weatherstripping around the back door. She might have generated more problems than she solved on that one by sealing over the groove for the weather strip, but she got it sorted out later.
We're both thankful for everybody that came by to help this weekend. It's a huge relief to have that stuff out of the way so we can work on getting everything ready. Our child is already so blessed to have such wonderful grandparents.
