Christmas Eve

Christmas came and went in a blur and I never got a chance to write about it.
Marci and I both happened to be off on Christmas Eve (Marci's orientation got pushed back a week), which was a good thing because we were busy getting the house straightened up to be able to have our family over for a meal before church. An early morning jog helped me really get a good start on the day--I rearranged some of our Christmas lights outside (and added some), got everything picked up around the house, arranged tables and chairs, and even swapped out the flush valve assembly on the guest bathroom toilet. Once Marci got up and going, we ran by Walmart to pick up some food for our get-together, and got everything ready at home.
Just in time, too, since I had time to check my email and realize that I had been requested to come up with a whole set of images for that evening's service. My work ran me past 5 o'clock (when guests started arriving), but I was able to finish in enough time to scarf down a sandwich and talk a little bit before heading up to the church. The service went well, although I was so caught up in what I was doing, I missed several chances to get some good pictures (although my one and only lens has a fairly tough time in the low light we used).
We intended to have everyone back for more snacking after the service, but I think everyone was ready to get to their respective homes and start on those visions of sugar plums, so Marci and I cleaned up a little, she and baby had one last meal, and we settled down for a long winter's nap.
