Day Out With Thomas

April 8, 2011 at 10:40 PMJeremy

Last Friday, we took the day off and kept Jonathan out of daycare.  He had no idea where we were going or why Mimi was with us until we saw a familiar face:

Grapevine was having a Day Out With Thomas.  Jonathan got to take a train ride, see Thomas and Sir Topham Hatt, play with some trains, shop, and look at all the train stuff.

Down By The Lake

April 8, 2011 at 10:30 PMJeremy

A couple of weeks ago we met up with some of the Segars and Shell families at Woodway Park to have lunch and catch up.

Jonathan seemed to really enjoy exploring and throwing stuff into the lake.

Jonathan Catch-Up

April 8, 2011 at 10:20 PMJeremy

The boy, looking cool in his sagging pants.

I went out to work on the deck one day, and here's what I found later:

And then I went to work on the shed, and my little helper just had to climb the ladder and take a few swings with his hammer, too--this whole "being a dad" thing has its moments :-)

Jonathan had looked under the playset and said, "hey, a rabbit and a snake."  I said, "I highly doubt those two would be hanging out together."  I'm guessing the "snake" was the rope in the lower-left, but I was surprised that he was right about the bunny.

And now, the boy just being adorable:

Nice Snowing You

April 8, 2011 at 10:10 PMJeremy

Yes, snow pictures (posting pretty late).

I'm a bit impressed that the first thing Jonathan wanted to do was shovel snow.  I told Marci that we should have taken him door to door shoveling driveways and sidewalks.

That's about how much snow we got.

And, of course, being Texas this was the next day:

Two

July 22, 2010 at 10:22 PMJeremy

Jonathan is two!  We recently had a party for him, and knowing how much he's into sports, I tried my hand at making cake balls decorated to look like sports balls.  Very challenging, but they didn't turn out half bad:

Jonathan particularly liked the "football chocolate" and threw a fit to get more of the "laces" on the tops of the footballs.

We had the family over for cake and gifts, and everybody enjoyed watching the kids play.

Later on, after everyone had left the party, we were out in the back yard so Jonathan could practice his putting.  He put down his club and said, "Slide!" which is usually an indication that he wants us to lift him up and set him on top of his slide and then hold his hands as he goes down.  This time, however, he walked over to the stairs at the back of the playset and started climbing up.

He got to the top and walked over to the slide, sat down, and was off.  He did it again, and again, and again, and again.  While I was a little worried that he's starting to take bigger and bigger risks, I was also relieved that I don't have to keep lifting him up over and over so he can slide.  He's getting heavy.
